The Alpine Population Conference

La Thuile, Aosta Valley, Italy

January 13-16, 2013

Ski-note Speakers

Michele Boldrin, Washington University

Daniel Lichter, Cornell University

Giovanna Merli, Duke University

Sharon Sassler, Cornell University

Alp-Pop brings together scholars interested in population issues across several disciplines, among them demography, economics, and sociology.

The conference emphasizes empirical rigor and innovation over a given topic or geographical area, and meets the challenges of interdisciplinary and international audiences.

Alp-Pop scholars confer both formally and informally. A traditional conference program (paper and poster presentations) mixes with group activities in a world-class winter resort. The conference location, the Planibel Hotel, is located on the well-known ski slopes of La Thuile.

Participants are expected to seek their own funding. Special-rate rooms have been reserved at the conference hotel with arrival on January 13 (the conference will kick off that evening) and departure on January 16 (the conference will end that evening). Participants will receive information on how to reach La Thuile and updates on the conference.

Program Committee

Arnstein Aassve (Bocconi), Joshua Goldstein (Max Planck), Michaela Kreyenfeld (Max Planck), Ross Macmillan (Bocconi), Mikko Myrskylä (Max Planck), and Paola Profeta (Bocconi).

Alp-Pop is jointly organized by the Carlo F. Dondena Center for Social Dynamics at Bocconi University, the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, and the Center for Economic and Political Research on Aging.
